Young Warrior, Civilians & Casualties

28mm metal miniatures from Gripping Beast and Blacktree Designs (civilians):

Highland Cattle

A couple more Highland Cattle from Gripping Beast. 28mm metal miniatures. I posted these on Facebook a while back but I don't seem to have put them on here. I used some slightly different washes & colours on these compared to the first two I completed, and a different way of painting the horns - seems OK.

The Muster of Warriors Continues!

Another unit of the war-band revealed! 28mm metal figures from Gripping Beast. The shields are a 50/50 mix of freehand & LBMS decals (can you tell which is which?). Still more levy troops to be photographed, but I think I might take some pictures of more heavily armoured warriors next :-)
Canny readers may also notice that some of the cast spears have been replaced with the brass rod variety.

All the best,

John.

Good News!

Dark Age Monastics at Paschaltide.

Figures are 28mm Gripping Beast. Church building is Gripping Beast resin. Wayside Cross is mdf from Warbases with a bit of green-stuff for the knotwork on the upright.

Brother Wilf preaches the gospel outside the local church.

Brother Wilf & Brother Dunstan gather to proclaim & pray at a wayside stone cross.

He is risen, risen indeed!

Shalom.

More Anglo-Saxon Warriors

So far I've only posted pictures of maybe 10% of my Anglo-Saxon stuff, in part because I have a lot other commission projects I want to post first.
Some of you may have already seen these pics on Facebook, but I know not everyone who checks out my blog is into FB.
The miniatures are 28mm from Gripping Beast and Blacktree Designs. The fourth figure from the left has had a mustache added with green-stuff. The two figures on left front have LBMS shield decals, the other shields are freehand. It's an interesting assortment of warriors, not really your high status blokes (the shade of blue-grey seen on the clubman is not the same as high status blue worn by the very wealthy : https://au.pinterest.com/jacksarge777/dark-age-re-enactmentliving-history/). They have a variety of weapons - spears, slings, seax, and even a rustic club.

Monarch of the Glen...in 28mm

28mm Stag and doe. Miniatures produced by Warbases in the UK. Really enjoyed painting these.
The intention is that they will be "set dressing " for my Dark Ages table, perhaps even an objective marker.

Cheers,

John.
